Virginia Championship

This major is for the players. Local courses are selected to offer familiar, well-traversed grounds allowing for low scores, even competition, and high stakes. One mistake could cost you the title of Virginia Champion as perfection is needed if you hope to rise above the competition and claim glory in the season's last major.

The Virginia Championship can trace its history like the other majors to the expansion of our local golf experience. Originally visiting courses outside of Richmond, the Va. Championship has established itself as a distinctly local competition. Leaving behind the Tradition courses of Stonehouse and Kiskiack, the Va. Championship finds itself on familiar grounds at courses such as Providence and Sycamore Creek.

The championship has also returned to its original position in the majors line-up, leaving it the last major of the season, and last chance at glory. Often competed in the waning days of the season, last summer/early fall, the Va. Championship bring memories of changing leaves and longer shadows, reminders that your last chance at a major title this season is coming to end.

As with many a great ideas, the Richmond Amateur Golfers Association evolved from a long history of good times and great friendships. It is our goal to enhance the game of golf through friendly competition in a relaxed, stress-free environment.
